The discipline of Speech Therapy began at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences (USWR) in 1992 through the establishment of a two-year graduate program. Subsequently, a four-year undergraduate program was conducted by the department after one year. The PhD programs (in 2006), have made this University a leader in professional education and research in the discipline of Speech-Language Pathology. The Department of Speech Therapy strives to provide students a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with clinical application and research. Moreover, we have three Rehabilitation Centers in which comprehensive speech, language, and hearing services to individuals of all ages with communication and swallowing disorders are provided. Our vision is to prepare qualified and compassionate clinicians and researchers to provide innovations in meeting the challenges of the new millennium in communication and swallowing disorders.
