Prof. Hamidreza Khankeh, Chancellor of the USWR met with Dr. Pir-Hossein Kolivand, Head of the Matyr Qasem Soleimani Project Support Camp on Thursday to announce the equipping of specialists and psychological students for providing psychological support to residents of convalescent homes - to increase their resilience during the tough times of COVID-19 isolation.
This initiative is part of the taskforce of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and the Basij Organization “Each Home As a Health Post (HAHP)”. Hotels and guest houses have been converted to temporary convalescent homes for the purpose of hosting COVID-19 patients who do not require hospitalization, who must be isolated but without access to proper care at home, or who may pose a risk to family members at home.
Nurses and assistant nurses (with photo ID) in convalescent homes provide self-care training to patients with COVID-19, deliver daily medications to them as prescribed by a physician, treat the patients’ daily symptoms, screen for symptoms such as shortness of breath, level of consciousness, fever, and cough. If any of the above symptoms occur or worsen, designated physicians will review immediately and the resident will be referred to the selected COVID-19 Hospital or the hospital from which they were discharged as necessary. Tapping onto the potential scientific and professional capacities of the USWR will bring all of us closer to the development and realization of this initiative.
