The Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences Emphasizes a Move Toward Problem-Oriented and Policy-Oriented Research
In a meeting of the Research Council, the Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences stated that research is the driving force for solving the country’s issues and announced the university’s full support for researchers and research projects. In line with the university’s mission and responsibilities, we are moving toward producing policy briefs and national documents.
According to the University’s reporter, Dr. Seyed Ali Hosseini, the Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences emphasized the pivotal role of research in advancing the scientific and social objectives of the country, highlighting the necessity of implementing impactful, problem-oriented research projects and underscoring the university’s full support from its leadership for researchers and research proposals.
During the session, Dr. Mohammad-Saeid Khanjani, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology, noted the deputy's diverse activities, stating that the university, in line with its missions in rehabilitation sciences, social health, and mental health, aims to steer research toward addressing real societal needs.
He added that, given the current capacities, research projects should be directed especially toward the field of “youth in the population,” and that this area can be approached more professionally and purposefully.
The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology, referring to the unveiling of the "Comprehensive Document for Risk Management of Accidents and Disasters in the Health System," prepared by the Health in Emergency and Disaster Research Center at the university, stated: "Projects that lead to the production of high-level documents, policy briefs, and applied works are of great importance, and comprehensive support for such research is on the university's agenda."
In another part of the meeting, Dr. Talieh Zarifian, Director of Medical Information and Scientific Resources of the university, reported the success of the faculty members of the university in the first Knowledge Translation Festival of Yazd University of Medical Sciences, saying: "Winning the first place in the geriatrics group in the production of clips, research news, and festival booklets, as well as receiving the award and honorary diploma for the best Persian article of the Aging magazine from the Academy of Medical Sciences of the country, are among the valuable achievements of the Vice-Chancellery for Research and Technology of the university."
She also mentioned the review of the regulations of the University Publishing Council and the regulations of artificial intelligence in the field of publications, and described the university's publication policy as supporting the writing of reference books and textbooks.
It is worth mentioning that in this meeting, a report on the evaluation indicators of research and technology activities of universities in the current year was presented, and topics such as the timetable for the evaluation process of research and technology activities of universities and medical science research centers in the country, the university's evaluation indicators in 2025, changes in the executive procedure of thesis-projects, the regulations of the University Publishing Council, the regulations of artificial intelligence in publications, and the review of research project proposals were discussed.
