We Are the Only Mission-Oriented University Among Medical Science Universities

 

The University's Vice Chancellor for Education, emphasizing the unique position of this center as the only mission-oriented university in the fields of rehabilitation sciences, social health, and behavioral sciences among medical science universities, explained the necessity of the role of humanities and philosophy in enhancing the quality of education and research.

According to the report from the university's web correspondent, Dr. Hamidreza Khorramkhorshid, the Vice Chancellor for Education at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, during the fifth consultative meeting of the university's professors and elites this year, noted the special status of this university as the only mission-oriented university in the field of rehabilitation sciences, social health, and behavioral sciences among the country's medical science universities, and stated: The university must actively participate in fields related to social health by leveraging expert professors.

Emphasizing the strategic role of humanities in advancing the university's goals, he added: Although our fields of work fall within the category of medical sciences, we require special attention to humanities and philosophy. The absence of philosophical discussions is felt in some course syllabi, and including them could increase motivation among professors and students and, ultimately, accelerate scientific progress.

Following this, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Nourollahi Ravari, Director of the Radiology Department at Atieh Hospital and translator of the book Analytical Idealism, explained the foundations of this book while criticizing the negative impact of cyberspace on the power of thought and deep-thinking attitudes.

Referring to the deadlocks of physicalism (materialism) in answering fundamental questions about the nature of the universe, Dr. Nourollahi introduced the perspective of Bernardo Kastrup, stating: By utilizing the tools of analytical philosophy, Kastrup challenges the foundations of materialistic metaphysics and argues that science alone is not sufficient to achieve a correct understanding of the nature of consciousness and reality.

In explaining the theory of Analytical Idealism, the translator added: According to this view, the external world is of the same existential kind as our mind. Kastrup believes that physicalism has lost its scientific and social function, and even the panpsychism approach is unjustified; therefore, analytical idealism is considered the simplest and most probable assumption for explaining reality, the identity of time, and the beginning of the universe, which can present new insights to researchers.

In this meeting, while emphasizing the necessity of the role of humanities and philosophy in improving the quality of education and research, materialistic foundations (physicalism) were criticized, and the approach of Analytical Idealism was discussed as a new perspective for understanding the nature of consciousness and the reality of the universe.
