Advancing Early Intervention Services for Preterm Infants with Faculty Member from University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences
Dr. Aida Ravarian, a faculty member at the Pediatric Neurological Rehabilitation Research Center of the University, conducted a two-day visit to Zahedan to advance the development of early intervention services for preterm and at-risk infants. Her mission included organizing educational workshops, providing clinical training, and delivering specialized occupational therapy services.
According to a report by Web Day University's correspondent, Dr. Aida Ravarian visited Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) Hospital in Zahedan during her two-day mission.
On the first day of the visit, a six-hour workshop titled Early Care and Interventions for At-Risk and Hospitalized Neonates in the NICU was held. The workshop was attended by a group of nurses and head nurses from Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in Zahedan, as well as healthcare professionals from surrounding counties, including Khash and Saravan. This was followed by two hours of clinical training specifically designed for nurses and occupational therapists within the NICU.
On the second day, specialized occupational therapy services were provided to children with histories of prematurity and NICU hospitalization, conducted in collaboration with three occupational therapists from Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) Hospital.
At the conclusion of the visit, following discussions with the Head of the Neonatal Department, it was agreed that necessary measures would be pursued to establish a dedicated Early Assessment and Intervention Unit for Preterm Infants at the hospital. Furthermore, given the significant physical space constraints and lack of facilities, the renovation and equipping of the hospital's Occupational Therapy Department—to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to infants, toddlers, and children—has been placed on the official agenda.
