Educational quality in the virtual education system is essential
The university Chancellor, at a meeting with the heads of the university’s academic departments, stressed the importance of education and its follow-up in the current conditions and asked the professors to prioritize the quality of virtual education.
According to the university’s Web News reporter, the meeting of heads of academic groups and research centers at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, with the presence of the university Chancellor, educational and cultural and student chancellors, was held in the president’s hall.
Dr. Seyed Ali Hosseini, while congratulating the 22nd of Bahman and the Ayyam-e Shabaniyeh (Shabaniyeh holidays), emphasized the importance of pursuing education and its quality under the current conditions.
He said: Given the circumstances, virtual education has expanded, and the quality of educational services in the virtual education system is a fundamental issue that professors must pay special attention to.
The university Chancellor added: The comprehensive view of the presidency and the university’s Educational Affairs Office toward faculty members in education and research plays a crucial role in the university’s scientific advancement, and active collaboration of these members in this regard is essential.
Dr. Hosseini also asked the department heads to determine the status of continuing (long-staying) students at the master’s and doctoral levels and to pay attention to maintaining the quality of education in virtual sessions.
In this meeting, Dr. Hamidreza Khorramkhorshid, the University’s Vice Chancellor for Education, while appreciating the efforts of faculty members this term, referred to various topics, including the student housing experience during the Corona period, the formation of a committee to provide educational services, and the implementation of online education. He highlighted the importance of supervision by educational groups over students’ theses and collaboration with the Deputy for Education and dormitories to determine the status of students who are on leave or repeating terms.
Dr. Khorramkhorshid continued: There must be special attention to professional ethics and the faculty’s judgment, and groups should be more diligent in research methodologies and in their involvement with the ethics committee.
Dr. Mohammad Saeed Khanjani, the University’s Vice Chancellor for Research, announced at this meeting the opening of the Medical Equipment and Rehabilitation Center Growth (Incubator) at the university with the presence of officials from the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education on the 28th of Bahman, and highlighted the university’s research advancements.
He also referred to uploading innovative projects into the Pajhohan system and moving toward product-driven theses at the graduate levels.
Dr. Mohammadreza Dinmohammadi, the Director of Education and Graduate Studies at the university, in this meeting touched on various topics including resolving the status of students who are on leave or repeating terms, revising the implementation processes of theses and dissertations, issues related to ethics codes and defense, the language proficiency scores of PhD students for the comprehensive exam, and the stages of thesis defense both inside and outside the university.
Subsequently, topics such as language testing, the quality of online classes, students’ internships, the status of lecturer remuneration for teaching, and other important matters were discussed and exchanged.
At the end of the session, the elimination of the pre-defense meeting for the master's level and the launch of the Tabeeb system (a medical or practitioner platform) were also mentioned.
