Focus on Education and Mental Health alongside Pulmonary Rehabilitation
The scientific secretary of the National Conference on Pulmonary Rehabilitation said, “Focusing on education and mental health alongside pulmonary rehabilitation is a fundamental issue that, given the prevalence of respiratory diseases, requires serious consideration.”
According to reports from Web Day University, Dr. Maryam Mir-Enayat, the scientific secretary of the National Conference on Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which was hosted by the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences on the 13th of December, announced that this important event would be held by the Iranian Lung Association and the Center for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Research at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. She stated that the conference aims to advance knowledge in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation and emphasizes the vital importance of a multidimensional approach, including comprehensive education and psychological support for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. A medical equipment and drug exhibition will also be held concurrently.
Dr. Mir-Enayat, expressing satisfaction with the collaboration between the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, described this scientific event as a significant step in highlighting the scientific importance of pulmonary rehabilitation.
She noted that the main topics discussed at this conference cover a wide range of specialized subjects, including general principles of pulmonary rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation protocols and respiratory physiotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation in special units, and innovative technology in remote rehabilitation.
The scientific secretary of the National Conference on Pulmonary Rehabilitation added that Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a comprehensive process that goes beyond mere physical exercises, and chronic lung patients often contend with anxiety, depression, and fear of shortness of breath. In this regard, comprehensive education about the disease, medications, and lifestyle, along with psychological support through support groups, is essential to increase motivation and long-term treatment adherence, and it is the key to achieving sustainable outcomes.
She said that this conference has a special qualification for health professionals; in a way, it allocates 10 continuing education credits for target groups, including adult pulmonology specialists, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, and sports medicine specialists.
Dr. Mir-Enayat, in addition to specialized panels, announced the organization of practical training workshops that will focus on assessment methods in pulmonary rehabilitation and designing exercise programs in this field.
