From Anger Management to the Magic of Saying No: Dr. Khodaei’s Specialized Approach to Overcoming Psychological Pressures
The Professor of Psychiatry and the University's Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation emphasized the importance of skills such as anger management, problem-solving, relaxation, and the ability to say no when facing psychological pressures, providing scientific strategies to maintain mental health.
According to a report by Web Day University's correspondent, Dr. Mohammad Reza Khodaei, the University's Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation, noted the widespread nature of psychological pressures across professional, academic, and interpersonal dimensions. He stated: According to psychological principles, humans are distressed not so much by events themselves, but by the perspective and interpretation they hold toward them; therefore, changing one's mindset is the first step on the path to mental health.
While listing symptoms of stress ranging from heart palpitations and restlessness to negative thoughts and hopelessness, he emphasized the necessity of adopting scientific solutions. He added: To achieve mental health, one must practically master skills such as relaxation (focus and deep breathing), problem-solving (goal setting and evaluating the pros and cons of solutions), and anger management.
The psychiatry professor and university faculty member also highlighted the importance of recognizing the harmful nature of behaviors such as perfectionism, procrastination, and the inability to say no. He added: Inability to manage time and a lack of clarity in priorities are considered factors that damage mental health, which must be addressed through lifestyle modifications and precise planning.
In another part of his remarks, Dr. Khodaei noted the significant role of spirituality and reliance on Divine power alongside specialized solutions. He asserted: Strengthening effective interpersonal relationships, exercising, getting sufficient sleep, and ultimately, collective happiness and kindness toward others, are the core pillars of achieving a healthy and fulfilling life.
Concluding his address, the Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation remarked: Maintaining a healthy mind requires life satisfaction, sharing joys with others, and empathizing with the suffering of fellow human beings a path that is made smoother through reliance on God and the continuous remembrance of Him.
