At the conference Empowering Nursing Staff in the Field of Hazard and Disaster Management, the University's Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation, emphasizing the central role of nursing staff in managing crisis conditions, stated: Nurses are the backbone and the front-line commanders of the health system during incidents, who, in addition to maintaining the structure of the health system, are responsible for providing stability to society in sensitive conditions.
According to the report from the university's web correspondent, Dr. Mohammadreza Khodaei, the Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation, at this scientific event, while emphasizing the importance of recognizing the true position of the healthcare system during crises, said: The health system acts as a backbone that, in addition to preserving its own structure, is responsible for providing stability to the entire body of society in sensitive conditions. In this regard, nurses, as the tip of the spear of the health system, have played a heroic role in all crises—from natural disasters to recent battles.
Referring to the strategic position of the nursing staff, he described them as the backbone of the health system and the front line of combating crises, adding: The safe evacuation of hospitals, specialized care for vulnerable groups and infants, and resource management in difficult conditions are among the prominent examples of nurses' capabilities in the crisis field.
Dr. Khodaei said: Nurses are not merely implementers of orders, but rather act as professional managers in all stages of crisis management, including prevention, preparedness, timely intervention, and rehabilitation.
Referring to the geopolitical conditions and Iran's earthquake-prone nature, the University's Vice Chancellor for Treatment and Rehabilitation considered holding such scientific events an unavoidable necessity and noted: By relying on their knowledge and successful experiences, nurses not only navigate current crises but also, by analyzing these experiences, play an effective role in enhancing the resilience of the health system against future incidents.
The conference Empowering Nursing Staff in the Field of Hazard and Disaster Management was held in the assembly hall of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, receiving an enthusiastic response from specialists and medical staff.
