According to a report by Web Day University's correspondent, Dr. Peymaneh Shirinbayan, a faculty member at the university, noted that health is a concept that goes beyond biological and medical dimensions to include social, psychological, and cultural aspects. She said: While modern media have provided unparalleled opportunities to facilitate health literacy and empower individuals in health decision-making, without proper management, they can become platforms for the dissemination of rumors and misconceptions regarding health.
She considered the concept of scientific promotion of health culture to be of high importance, adding: This process requires translating specialized knowledge into a language understandable to the general public without compromising its scientific accuracy. This necessitates close cooperation among universities, researchers, health professionals, and media activists. University faculty members, as the primary producers of knowledge, must move their scientific findings beyond purely academic formats and make them accessible to the public.
Dr. Shirinbayan highlighted the necessity of media adherence to professional ethics, source validation, and the use of scientific evidence, adding: Training journalists in the health sector and developing science journalism can significantly help reduce the gap between science and society. The use of new technologies and social networks also provides a valuable opportunity to spread health messages, provided that these tools are utilized based on scientific strategies.
