Psychological Burnout the main cause of family tensions in the modern world

Psychological Burnout the main cause of family tensions in the modern world

A faculty member of the university, by analyzing communication challenges in today's families, identified psychological burnout caused by environmental pressures as the root cause of irritability and reduced resilience among family members, emphasizing the necessity of returning to authentic communication skills to revive peace.

According to a report by Web Day; Dr. Azin Farzin, a faculty member of the Department of Psychology at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, coincided with Health Week focused on Family Health, analyzed communication challenges in today's world and stated: Many families these days are struggling with the problems of irritability, decreased patience, and verbal tensions. The reality is that in many of these cases, the main problem is not a lack of affection, but rather the psychological burnout of the members, which overshadows the home atmosphere.

The consequences of modern living on individual tolerance thresholds

Referring to environmental stressors, she clarified: Economic pressures, livelihood concerns, the bombardment of negative news, and excessive use of social media have stripped the brain of opportunities for true rest. When the mind suffers from extreme fatigue, an individual's tolerance threshold decreases; the result of this burnout is that simple questions turn into exhausting arguments, parental resilience declines, and a sense of detachment develops between spouses.

Dr. Farzin added: One of the paradoxes of modern life is that family members have a physical presence alongside each other, but they are not emotionally present together. Each individual is preoccupied with their own virtual world, while the fundamental human need to be heard, seen, and feel secure remains the same old, enduring need.

Indicators of a healthy family from a psychological perspective

Defining the indicators of a healthy family, this faculty member stated: Family health does not mean the absence of disagreement; because no family exists without tension. A healthy family is one that has learned the skills of dialogue, active listening, respectful expression of needs, apologizing, and empathy during times of crisis so that instead of hurting each other, they can stand together.

Simple solutions to improve the psychological state of the family

To improve the psychological atmosphere of the family, Dr. Farzin provided several key solutions at the end, saying: These include dedicating at least 20 minutes of daily conversation without the presence of mobile phones, avoiding sarcasm and humiliation, appreciating each other for small actions, and refraining from trying to win every argument.

She concluded by noting: Family health is not summarized only in financial and physical dimensions; the psychological state of a home requires continuous care, and a sincere listening or a few minutes of genuine attention can untie major psychological knots and restore health and peace to the heart of the family.
