Students of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tehran Visited the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences Health Technology Ecosystem
Dr. Mokhtar Arazpour, Director of Health Technology at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, highlighted that the visit by medical engineering students from the University of Tehran aimed to familiarize them with the university’s scientific and technological capacities and to provide a clear picture of innovation in the rehabilitation and health sectors.
In an interview with the university’s web news agency, Dr. Arazpour discussed the details of the visit, which took place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He stated, “This visit was organized to introduce Tehran University’s biomedical engineering students to our university’s scientific and technological resources. Our goal was to showcase a vivid image of the innovation and technology landscape in rehabilitation and health.”
He added, “One of our key missions at the Health Technology Center is to create a suitable environment for transforming student ideas into innovative products. During this visit, our experts explained the commercialization process, intellectual property rights, and support mechanisms available through our incubation center so that students could learn about the practical development pathway for their ideas.”
Dr. Arazpour emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration by mentioning visits to the Orthotics and Prosthetics Group and speech therapy departments. “Developing technology in rehabilitation requires a deep understanding of clinical issues and cross-disciplinary teamwork. Therefore, collaboration between technical students and rehabilitation sciences groups can lead to practical innovations,” he explained.
The director also announced the center’s readiness to collaborate with other universities and expressed serious support for innovative ideas that aim to improve community health and rehabilitation, especially projects proposed by students.
He further noted, “These visits foster mutual understanding and help establish inter-university connections. We hope to see joint research teams and the commercialization of innovative projects on a national scale in the future.”
