The Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, emphasizing the university’s mission to connect scientific research with real community needs, described the realization of the Comprehensive Document on Risk Management of Incidents and Disasters in the health system as a significant step toward fulfilling the university’s mission of social health.
According to the reporter from the university’s Web Day News, a one-day seminar entitled “Innovative Approaches to Risk Management in Incidents and Disasters,” and the unveiling ceremony of the “Comprehensive Document on Risk Management of Incidents and Disasters in the Health System” were held simultaneously with the commemoration of the anniversary of the Establishment of the Health in Emergency and Disaster Research Center and Educational Group, with the attendance of the Deputy Minister and the President of the Secretariat of the Supreme Health and Food Security Council of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, the university chancellor, the head of the Health in Emergency and Disaster Research Center, and representatives from the National Emergency Organization, the Red Crescent Society, the Traffic Police, and other related institutions. Dr. Seyed Ali Hosseini, Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, during this seminar, referring to the role of universities in scientifically addressing societal issues, stressed the necessity of leveraging research achievements in risk management of incidents and disasters.
The Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences congratulated the Health in Emergency and Disaster Research Center for preparing and drafting this document and praised the cross-disciplinary collaboration that has formed, saying: This university moves forward in fulfilling its missions in three areas—rehabilitation sciences, social health, and mental health—and the Health in Emergency and Disaster Research Center, with its vast volume of specialized research, is considered a vital intellectual arm in this field.
He emphasized that specialized training is not a cost but a strategic investment to save lives and national assets, adding: Fortunately, this center is currently recognized as the national hub for incidents and disasters in the country, and the drafting of the Comprehensive Document on Risk Management of Incidents and Disasters in the Health System is a valuable achievement along this path.
Dr. Hosseini also deemed the realization of this document effective in enhancing social health and stated: This document has been developed in line with the university’s missions and can play an important role in increasing preparedness and reducing vulnerability of the health system in the face of incidents and disasters.
The Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, referring to the university’s recent achievements, noted: We are seeking to generate knowledge and technologies that directly improve the quality of life of people. University research must be impactful and serve society, and the unveiling of this document is a symbol of the university’s resolve to move research from research centers to the grassroots of society.
