In a message on the occasion of World Elderly Day, the Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, emphasizing the necessity of a scientific perspective and smart policymaking in the field of aging, spoke of the prominent role of this university in planning, monitoring, and policy-making to manage the aging crisis in the years ahead and stressed turning this crisis into an opportunity for social development.
According to a report from Web Day University correspondent, Dr. Seyed Ali Hosseini, Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, in a message on World Elderly Day, emphasized the importance of scientific attention and smart policymaking in the field of aging. He said:
“October 1st, World Elderly Day, is a valuable opportunity to remind us of the respect, attention, and commitment to one of the most valuable population groups in society, namely the elderly. The increase in life expectancy and the aging structure of the population have brought us face to face with a phenomenon called ‘population aging’ that requires scientific attention, smart planning, and precise policymaking.”
He added: “As one of the leading scientific centers in the field of social health and rehabilitation, the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, with its Center for Aging Research and the Aging Education Group, strives to improve the quality of life of the elderly in the country by training specialized personnel, producing applicable knowledge, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.”
Referring to a national study currently underway at the university, He said: “Implementing the aging cohort study, as one of the university’s strategic actions, provides a scientific framework for monitoring, analyzing trends, and formulating effective policies in the field of aging and related crises in the coming years. This large study, with the participation of researchers and the support of local authorities, can serve as a national model for smartly addressing the aging phenomenon.”
Dr. Hosseini concluded: “Today, more than ever, there is a need for synergy among the university, the government, civil institutions, and families to promote health, dignity, and social participation of the elderly. The University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, with all its scientific and research capacities, is taking steps in this direction and is committed to playing an effective role in designing a healthy and vibrant future for the elderly in the country.”
He, in congratulating World Elderly Day, noted: “We feel it is our duty to appreciate the efforts, experiences, and kindness of the elderly generation and to walk together with them to build a more just and compassionate society for them.”
