WHO Book Published with the Participation of University Faculty Member
A new World Health Organization (WHO) book has been published, featuring the contribution of Dr. Homa Kashani, a faculty member of the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology
The WHO publication, titled WHO guideline on environmentally friendly and less invasive oral health care for preventing and managing dental caries, was prepared by a group of global experts, including Dr. Homa Kashani from the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, who participated in the editorial team. The book provides evidence-based recommendations for the safe and effective use of mercury-free dental materials and minimally invasive interventions for the prevention and management of dental caries, in alignment with the Minamata Convention on Mercury and global oral health priorities. Furthermore, it evaluates clinical efficacy, cost-effectiveness, toxicity, and environmental impacts. The book also outlines implementation strategies, sustainability considerations, and research gaps to support countries in their transition toward mercury-free and environmentally friendly oral healthcare.
Interested readers can access the book for further study and information via the World Health Organization website, the PubMed database, or by downloading the book file directly.
