According to the university's web-day reporter, Dr. Seyyed Ali Hosseini, Chancellor of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, in this meeting held on the subject of population instability and family welfare, considered the population issue as one of the strategic components in the country's future and stated: Strengthening the family foundation and paying attention to the youth of the population are among the most important requirements for sustainable development and guarantors of the progress and dynamism of society.
Referring to the actions of the university's Youth Population Headquarters in organizing effective educational workshops, he added: Paying attention to the capacity of the young and healthy population will smooth the path of the country's progress and prosperity and will create a promising future for Islamic Iran.
Consequences of population instability and challenges of the welfare system
Furthermore, Dr. Farhad Nosratinejad, a faculty member of the university's Social Welfare Management department and an affiliated member of the Academy of Medical Sciences, described the consequences of the declining population growth rate. He identified population aging as the most significant challenge
amid population instability and warned about its consequences, including the critical state of pension funds, rising health costs, a rising divorce rate
, and the expansion of single-child families and elective childlessness.
In this meeting, it was emphasized that the traditional support system, due to modern social transformations, has largely lost its function and supportive capacity; therefore, a review of the system of opportunities and supportive and welfare mechanisms has become an unavoidable necessity.
The necessity of reforming the governance system to clear future ambiguities
In another part of his views, Dr. Nosratinejad explained scientific solutions for managing the population crisis. He stated: Improving society's perception of justice, the realistic acceptance of social classes, improving welfare indicators in the fields of education, housing, health, retirement, and employment, and also removing future ambiguities through governance system reform, are among the prerequisites for moving past the current situation.
Family the center of upbringing and the front line of facing vulnerabilities
Dr. Masoud Fallahi Khoshknab, Secretary of the university's Health Excellence and Youth Population Headquarters, also explained the position of the family institution in this meeting and stated: The family is the smallest social unit and, at the same time, the most influential educational institution, which is considered the source of individual transformation and the growth of human values in society.
He added: As the smallest social institution, the family is the most vulnerable group against social threats, because vulnerabilities often first appear in this institution and, if there is no prevention or improper handling, they penetrate the body of society.
At the end, the Secretary of the Health Excellence and Youth Population Headquarters, criticizing the dominance of hedonistic individualistic attitudes that contrast with monotheistic views, noted: Forming a family and having children should not be sacrificed for materialistic approaches; rather, the correct path for the growth and excellence of society must be recovered by returning to authentic and indigenous patterns.
